Marche` Johnson’s mission? To help liberate families one household at a time. This 12-year U.S. Army veteran is putting her experience to work to help people get their homes—and their lives—in tip-top shape.

How has your military experience helped you become a professional organizer?

I have a background in military logistics. What attracted me to organizing was being able to apply military-like systems and structure to homes in order to liberate families of daily clutter so they can live more comfortably and be more productive.

What would you say to a client who was intimidated by the idea of whipping their home into shape?

To be open minded and to enjoy the process because it is something new but very necessary!

You’re a busy working mother. How do you encourage your own family to pitch in and help?

Since my son has been a toddler unto now, we play basketball with his socks to keep his interest and focus on organizing his room.

What’s your biggest organizing challenge in your own home?

Keeping my pets organized.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of organizing?

[I love] photo blogging.

Do you have any other hidden talents?

I enjoy doing embroidery!

With all your hobbies and pets, you must have your fair share of stuff to keep organized. How do you keep it all in order in your own home?

Shelving units are my favorite organizing products.

What is your favorite organizing tip that you’ve picked up from a client along the way?

To prevent from piling things on tables, put a pretty centerpiece on the table.

When you’re not helping others get organized, what do you do to relax?

Sit by the fireplace with an awesome self-help book or a lifestyle or crafting magazine with a cup of coffee.
